Title: Hollow Core (School of Swords and Serpents Book 1) Pdf

Jace Warin never wanted anything more than to attend the School of Swords and Serpents to escape the labor camps and restore his family's stained honor.

But the determined young martial artist soon discovers the school he's always dreamed about is teeming with secret plots and sinister designs. To survive, he will have to master long-lost jinsei techniques, repair his wounded soul, and face down a most unexpected enemy: The Academy's ruthless headmaster and cunning professors.

Hollow is the first book in the School of Swords and Serpents series, a tale of wuxia adventure, cultivation mastery, and lurking threats.

“Wow, this book is crazy-good. If the Harry Potter series were somehow violently smashed together with the characters from Mortal Kombat, you might have something that comes close to the School of Swords and Serpents.” —James A. Hunter, Bestselling Author of Rogue Dungeon, Bibliomancer, and the LitRPG epic Viridian Gate Online

An Interesting Juxtaposition This book was an enjoyable read. The main character is scrappy, tenacious, and everything that you expect from a cultivation hero, working from behind to grow in strength. However, some parts of it didn't jive for me. It was a school, yet the teachers were only secretly against the MC? There was a big conspiracy that the MC wasn't a part of, but was directly affecting? It's only when he is apparently to be 'dealt with' that someone actually explains to him WHAT was going on. This was a little jarring and made no sense.A little more world building would have been good, as well, perhaps giving the MC some allies as well. There is a split between Empyreals and campers, but it's never clear why.In the end, the book is good, the story engaging, the MC is likeable. The mythos is engaging and makes me want to know more as well.A very good first offering and I'm keen for more.Oh my, this is so good I read the blurb. Mortal Kombat meets Harry Potter. Well, this was a lot more exciting than Harry Potter. I was warned that I wouldn't be able to put it down. It's 2 am. Still enough time for some sleep before work tomorrow. I loved the detail in the combats. How the MC moved his energy. The combats and other energy things were just enough and not any more. The same went for the story telling. It was simple enough to make reading effortless. I would have liked just a bit more description of his friends. This definitely was a book where I hit the end and went Wow! I hope that I have conveyed enough to validate my enthusiastic recommendation of the book. I consider this on par and maybe a smidge better than Rogue Dungeon, another Shadow Alley press book that is on my read this first list. Ok, I'll read the next Cradle first but this was darn close. I hope the next one of these fulfills what this one promised.Great start for the young, honor hungry hero. This story is not the typical weakling overcoming the school yard bully. Jace is a young man that has a physical ailment that he constantly struggles with just to make himself try to do the simple tasks his peers do everyday. His whole life seems to be a mystery as he attempts to understand how his family had become dishonored and exiled. His very weakness enables him to become the hero the world does not quite know it needs. The challenge will be overcoming the traps, schemes, and dark alliances his adversaries both apparent and concealed have in store for his journey to completion. I, for one, am looking forward to the next chapters of the story to be unveiled. There are some grammatical errors (spelling and punctuation), so I hope the editors catch more of them in the next book. There were not so many that it caused me to lose focus and continue with the story; therefore, I still gave it a five star rating since it is the first in the series.

Start with Why Free Pdf

ISBN: B074VF6ZLM
Title: Start with Why Pdf How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action

The inspiring, life-changing best seller by the author of Leaders Eat Last and Together Is Better.

In 2009 Simon Sinek started a movement to help people become more inspired at work and, in turn, inspire their colleagues and customers. Since then, millions have been touched by the power of his ideas, including more than 28 million who've watched his TED Talk based on Start with Why - the third most popular TED video of all time.

Sinek starts with a fundamental question: Why are some people and organizations more innovative, more influential, and more profitable than others? Why do some command greater loyalty from customers and employees alike? Even among the successful, why are so few able to repeat their success over and over?

People like Martin Luther King Jr., Steve Jobs, and the Wright Brothers had little in common, but they all started with why. They realized that people won't truly buy into a product, service, movement, or idea until they understand the why behind it.

Start with Why shows that the leaders who've had the greatest influence in the world all think, act, and communicate the same way - and it's the opposite of what everyone else does. Sinek calls this powerful idea The Golden Circle, and it provides a framework upon which organizations can be built, movements can be led, and people can be inspired. And it all starts with why.

Not worth one's time I read a lot. At least a few hours a day. This book was awful.Let's start with why. Sinek is an awfully repetitive and, frankly, unskilled writer. He lays out his thesis and then repeats it like a rower repeats his stroke. As he drags out the book to whatever number of words he needed to fulfill book contract, he re/illustrates his thesis with different examples. This would have made the book slightly more tolerable, except the examples are so ordinary and well known that they will put you to sleep. Apple, Disney, JFK, Hitler. Yawn. Even that might be fine if he had spent five minutes on Wikipedia to research less-known stories about them, but it doesn't look like he did. This book should have been a column in a weekend newspaper, or, at best, a chapter in another book about leadership. Not worth your time.Interesting idea, but terrible book. Read an abstract or get the Ted talk. How do you rate this book? The basic idea is good, the book itself is a slog. As others have noted, watch the Ted talk, or read a summary from an abstract service. The premise is interesting, but it's not ground breaking. Basically, it's: don't start with what you can do and figure out how to find a market, but instead start with a passion, a need, and what gets you up in the morning, build a business around that, and hire people who share your passion. It's slightly more than that, but not much more, hence find the Ted talk or read an abstract. Most repetitive book I've ever read I read this book 10 times. No, I didn't read it over and over. I just read it once and by doing that I read it 10 times. It's so repetitive that I actually stopped multiple times to check where I am in the book, thinking that I mistakenly flipped back to a previous chapter. I started to wonder if the author has amnesia and forgot that he explained why Apple is innovative for the 100th time. I gave it two stars because the underlying concept is a good one but you can save your time and just watch the TED talk.
